Recap: TFN + SECOND RIMAC SPORTS NIGHT

By Tracy | 5 comments

What's up everyone!  This past Friday was special because we met brothers and sisters separately for TFN.  All the bros met on campus for TFN where we got to bond over chili dogs for dinner and heard a manly message given by Mike!  After the message we had a Freshman vs SUPs Nerf gun shooting competition that involved knocking cups off a table.  The sisters met at Fisk house and got to hang out over a delicious chicken dinner and our very own Judy gave a thought provoking talk. Afterwards, we met at RIMAC to finish off our night and continue the Freshman vs SUPs class competition that we started at last week's RIMAC sports night.  RIMAC sports night was once again a fun, competitive, and exciting night of indoor soccer, ultimate frisbee, and Braveheart.  Last week when we had RIMAC, the SUPs prevailed and beat the Freshmen.  This time the Freshman got revenge and in the end prevailed to win their very first RIMAC sports night!

Half Time!

By Tracy

Those of you who are diligently keeping up with your class syllabi know that this is Week 5, meaning we're halfway done with winter quarter! Whether you see it as being halfway done of halfway more to go, keep up with your studies because exciting things are coming up this month: Valentine's Day of Compassion Valentine’s Day of Compassion is a tradition that we are starting here in San Diego. We want to make this day into an opportunity to serve our community, to show love and care for those who need it the most. In the past we’ve gone to places such as homeless shelters and elderly care homes where we perform skits and songs and present crafts and gifts to brighten the lives of the residents. Please sign up here and set aside some time starting from 4pm to dinner time of Tuesday 2/14. Winter Retreat 2/18-2/20 (Saturday ~ Monday) Remember to sign up for the Winter Retreat that's taking place President's Day weekend (2/18-2/20). It is a good time mid-quarter to be refreshed by God's Word.  We'll be getting away from campus and having our retreat at Palomar Christian Conference Center. The retreat starts at 10am on Saturday and goes until Monday afternoon. The registration fee is $75 to cover the cost of lodging and food. TFN by Class Friday 2/10 @ 6:30pm Freshmen: 104 Peterson Sophomores & Up: Fisk House (rides @ Pangea & Triton) This coming Friday, we'll be having TFN by class. Yes, not small group, not large group, but "medium"-sized group! This is a good opportunity to get to know everyone in your year and to study God's Word together.

Winter Welcome Nights

By Tracy | 2 comments

Wednesday 1/11/2012 @ 6:30pm Locations: MPR, Asante Room (ERC - International House), and Yosemite Room (Warren - Canyon Vista) Hi everyone! I hope you all are excited to come back to San Diego. Even though it's winter, we've been having sunny skies in the mid 70s with a slight breeze! But the weather is not the only thing you can look forward to. This coming Wednesday we'll be having 3... yes, THREE welcome nights! Instead of having one big shebang, we're going to have the same program in three locations. That means for you ERC folk, there's no need to hike down to the MPR. Be sure to invite your friends as a2f Winter Welcome Night will be right at your doorstep! If you would like to help our with tabling, please sign up at the link to your right. We're all excited to see you guys back on campus!

Ushering in the New Year

By Tracy

If you happen to be in the SD area, here's some announcements that apply to you! As mentioned before, every year our church gathers together to reflect, sing, and listen to sharing from various church members. It is our way of ending the current year and welcoming the new year together.   New Year's Day Worship Service @ Fisk House Sunday 1/1 @ 12am (Midnight!) We'll also be having Sunday Worship Service right after the Watchnight Service at 12am. Yes, that's midnight! When else would we ever be able to try this out?!? So there will be no Sunday Worship Service during the daylight hours of January 1st, but we'll be having service together right after the countdown to the new year. For those of you who won't be able to join us, we hope to hear from you on the Winter Challenge blog!

Don't forget to sign up for the Knott's Berry Farm trip if you happen to be in the LA area on January 2nd. You can find the link to the sign-up page in the right column. Lastly, here are some announcements for you local SD folks: No TFN on 12/23 but we'll be having Sunday Worship Service on Christmas Day (12/25) at 11am. We'll be meeting at Fisk House. 'Tis the Season to... Celebrate the End of Finals!!!!

By Jessica Y | 2 comments

Just because the quarter is over doesn't mean the fun has to stop!  We still had our regular TFN this past Friday but this time at Fisk House (Pastor Daniel and Sarah's house). Pastor Daniel started off the night with a Bible study about Joseph, reminding us of the true context in which Jesus was born.  Afterwards, it was a night out on the town as we saw Christmas lights at Balboa Park, swung by Coronado to view the cityscape, and finished the night with a quick stop at In-N-Out. The night really put us in the Christmas spirit. Hope you all have a fun time at home. We'll be updating you guys on the going-ons here in San Diego!

Let your life group leader know if you would like to come over! Friday 12/2, 7:00pm Bible Study & Christmas Gift Exchange @ The Forum (4th Floor Price Center) Also, just a heads up for next Friday, we'll be having a Christmas party and gift exchange after Bible study.
