And if you haven’t taken Course 101 yet, this is a great opportunity to learn about God and Christianity. Course 101 is a course on the foundations of Christianity that allows you to ask questions like Who is God? What is life? What is Christianity all about? So if you want to take this course, sign up! We’ll be meeting Thursdays at 7pm, but if that time doesn’t work for you, let us know and we’ll work something out!
Curious about our group? Have spiritual (or maybe not-so-spiritual) questions you're just dying to have answered? Or, maybe you just want to shoot the breeze and get to know some of the acts2fellowship staff? In any case, feel free to sign up for office hours with Steve or Eunice below!
For those of you who have gone through Life Group, Course 101 is not too different. We still offer a nice meal, and you still get to know those around you. However, it is more structured than Life Group -- there is a course material, and you get to learn the basic tenets of Christianity, from how does Genesis jive with the Big Bang Theory to how do we know the Bible is accurate to who is this Jesus? (And that's only to name a few!) But don't take our word for it! Here are a few quotes from students who have taken Course 101 within the past year: I would recommend taking Course 101, because it helped me answer lot of questions I had in mind... in such a concrete and understandable way. It is one of the best learning experiences I have had at UCR. What kept me coming were the thought-provoking lessons and the fun (and yummy) times I had with those in Course 101. It answered my question about what Christianity really is and gave me concrete evidence for the validity of Christianity and for the existence of God.
Hi folks, if you were here last week on Sunday, you know that it was an especially celebratory weekend as we saw three students get baptized! It was our 2nd ever baptism, which was a different perspective for me, as I and Brad got baptized last January at the first one. But last week's was especially meaningful as it was the 1st baptism of undergrad students - Sophomore Brian Le, Junior Jordan Ta, and Senior Andrew Robertson! Here are some pictures :) All three students shared their testimonies during service, as we got to hear the stories about their different lives and how they arrived at their decision to become Christian. Brian Le enthusiastically celebrated after going under the water.

Wow, can't believe spring welcome night was almost a month ago! Man, time flies. Here's a recap of what happened that night. Started off with some rockin' praise. Afterwards, there was a skit. The main character had two different types of groups that he wanted to impress. In order to fit in to each crowd, he kept switching off between the "fun and party mask" and the "sophisticated and artistic mask." It was easy in the beginning, but after a while, he got really tired and couldn't take it anymore. Steve then gave a message titled, "Masks." Going off the skit, he talked about how people tend to wear various masks because their inner desire is to be loved and accepted by others. Truth is, we don't have to. Later, it was game time. We split into several teams and played "Minute to Win It!" This is a popular game series where you have to complete a challenge in one minute (or less) to win. Some are actually harder than you think. Here at a2f, we're generous. We don't time you. Just be the first to complete the challenge to win! Takes off a lot of time pressure doesn't it? Some other teams. That's all for now. If you missed out, join us at our next welcome night! We hope to see you there!
For the past three weeks we've been having and A2F dodgeball tournament and this past Saturday it all came to an end. Four teams battled it out, the Purple Cobras, the Avengers(no relation to the actual Avengers), The Pythagorean theorem and the Highlighters. It was an awesome underdog story as the Highlighters who had been favored to take last, overtook the larger teams to become the champs! Everyone played hard and afterwards we had a bbq at the park, we ate some burgers and played more sports. The tournament was action packed and full of surprises. We took a group picture afterwards. Then it was time to eat! Hope everyone had a good time. If you missed out we will be playing sports Saturdays at 6 so come join us!!!
The empty classroom is filled with the sound of music, snacks and hot drinks give the room a sweet aroma, and the low buzz of tutoring gives the room a lively yet comfortable atmosphere. This is only a snapshot of what goes on at the sister's Study Cafe. The MSE room is turned from a classroom to a room of fellowship and study. Here's a sample of the snacks we've had... Sisters walk into a warm atmosphere of SUPS helping the freshmen in tutoring and food laid out on the table to give energy for studying. Hi everyone! Toward the end of spring break, we took a road trip up to Yosemite National Park. But this time we actually went into the valley...unlike last year's memorable trip :) Check out what we did this time!
Two weeks ago we celebrated Easter together at First Baptist. We began with a time of praise, followed by the UP brothers, myself include, singing a special song. The song was I will sing of my redeemer, a song praising God for saving us from our sins and death. Steve then delivered a moving message about nature of our sins to destroy relationships and bring death. Also of how Jesus's death on the cross saving us from this cycle of sins destructiveness. Afterwords we had an awesome meal together and played some fun games. We also celebrated a couple birthday's and finally ended our time with some shaved ice and some sports. We had a fun time, if you missed out don't worry join us Sunday's at 1:30 at First Baptist. You can also check out some more pictures in our gallery.
This past Friday we had our weekly TFN Bible Study at a Pentland's Bearcave. We started the night with Steve giving a message about the Pentecost, the great reversal of what happened at the Tower of Babel. Afterwards, we broke into different groups in which we competed against one another in a series of games that had speed, muscle, and whole lot of awesome. Check out these pictures! For the final round, "Tear down that Babel!" The objective of this game was for teams to build a tower that would protect their ping pong ball from a barrage of nerf gun discs. Check out the rest of the pictures in the gallery below!

Experience the Passion of Jesus personally through a guided journey through the different events in the Passion week leading up to Jesus’ death on the Cross. This will be stationed at First Baptist for the next few days. Sign up now! Please, if you’re available during the day, try to sign up for daytime slots so that people who work full-time have priority during the early morning and evening time slots. If you need a ride, please let one of the staff know!
It was the weekend before Valentine's Day, when most people spent their time sad and lonely in their apartments. But here at A2F, that was definitely not the case! In fact, we started off the night with some exciting praise from our student band! Our senior pastor from Berkeley, Pastor Ed, came down to Riverside to give us a special talk on the Biblical meaning of love. Afterwards, we split up into groups and played blind swordsman! After that, each team selected its most skilled sharpshooters to take aim at the other teams with airzookas. Check it out below! Check us out next week!
Well the night was young, and the students and staff separated into four teams by class to go head to head in three games. Dodgeball. Handball. And the always-popular Braveheart. From the referee's perspective, you could tell that some teams were clearly dominating and some were ... less than dominating. Check below to see how the freshman-upperclassmen team won dodgeball and braveheart in devastating fashion. Some of the guys wait their turn in dodgeball, while Linda clearly has someone in her sights to target. Braveheart is by far one of the most fun games I've played. Have a good spring break everyone! Maybe we'll have some more sports time next quarter!
Almost done with finals? We know some have already finished, but for those of you who still have finals, keep persevering and staying focused. You can get all the rest you need after finals are over! There are some changes this week that deviate from what we normally do, so see below for details. We don't want you to miss out! For those of you going home, have a wonderful Spring Break! We are still having DT groups this week. This is a good time to recharge and get away from the busyness of school to focus on God and hear from Him. Prayer meeting is off-campus so contact the staff if you need a ride. For TFN, we are going to meet altogether at Hackamore. It's going to be a cozy group but we are going to enjoy a nice home-cooked meal and probably go out to have some fun (you'll need to come to find out where we are going). Come join us for our Sunday Worship Service if you are in town. Time and ride locations will still be the same.
Hey Everyone! Where did the time go? We are already heading into finals...can you believe it? This quarter went by fast. Stay focused and do your best. Eat well, study hard and try to get enough sleep (helps with retention). TFN this week will be at 125 Bourns starting with dinner at 6:30pm. Study ahead of time so you can take a small break and join us for some fun. The beauty of Yosemite will render you speechless. It's going to be a blast, so sign up and make plans to be back in Riverside to join us. This quarter will be over before you know it, and a fun trip to Yosemite is what you need to recharge. We’ll be having two separate mission trips this year. It’s a wonderful chance to see God actively at work outside of the States, and it’s also a chance to get to bond with fellow mission workers. We do have a pre-req: you must be a regular attendee of Sunday worship services and weekly bible studies, and you’ll be required to submit a written salvation testimony by deposit due date. Sign Up! Reminder to visit the Winter 2012 Media Fast post and leave a comment on what you are going to cut out of your schedule to free up time and energy. This can help you get more studying done for your finals...good stuff! We'll be having our Sunday service at our usual place and time. Times and locations for rides are also unchanged.
