First Bible Study on Campus
On Thursday, July 8, 2010, we had our first historic Bible study on the UC Riverside campus! After meeting at Steve & Eunice’s house for a month, we finally made our way to the campus, where four students joined us.

We started with a scrumptious meal, and then Jasper led us in a time of singing praise songs.

Next, Steve gave an intriguing message about why we wear masks. Ever since the Garden of Eden, mankind has been wearing masks and presenting images of ourselves to others, ironically in order to gain attention or cover up some inadequacy, all the while hungering to be fully known and seeking true love. Steve shared some verses from Psalm 139, which says that God knows us fully and knows how we are made. God created us for infinite and unconditional love that we don’t have to earn by performing or pretending to be worthy. Because of God’s great love for us, we are free to have authentic fellowship with one another, where we can be truthful and honest and loved for who we are, not the masks we wear. What a timely message as we begin meeting on the UCR campus and invite everyone to be a part of this kind of close Acts 2 Fellowship with God and with one another.

After Bible study, we went out to Ten Ren for some tea, snacks, and dessert. We had an awesome time just hanging out, eating, talking about our favorite movies, and enjoying boba and shaved ice.

Sunday Worship Service with Patrick & Jeannie
Then, on Sunday, we had some special visitors: Patrick and Jeannie, from our sending church in Berkeley, along with their kids Josiah and Christine. It’s always a wonderful encouragement to see familiar faces from those supporting us from afar. We’ve been going through a message series called Soul Of The Early Church and learning lessons from the church’s beginnings recorded in the book of Acts.

Boy was it hot, so after service we went over to Yogurtland to cool off and see whose back we could stick the most stickers on without their knowledge.

Hope to see you next week!
