Farewell Suzanne

In the midst of all the fun we had this past week, we also had some tearful moments as we had to bid our very precious sister Suzanne farewell who is leaving to UCSD to start med school.

At our dinner on Monday, you could see how much she has been loved by  her peers and by all of us by just the awesome spread we had there from Korean, to Thai, to Chinese and yes…even scalloped potatoes (even though the menu was to be Asian =) We were even privileged to taste Joyce Yen’s awesome steamed fish (the 3 tier space capsule looking thing in the middle of the table contained flaky and tasty bass steaks)

And oh man, I don’t have pictures of the delicious Chicken stew that Jenny & her peers made and the countless other dishes that the rest of us had brought.

One thing about Suzanne is that she loves baked goodies and we have been recipients of her many baked cookies and yummy delicious pastries throughout the year. That’s one way she showed her love for people.  So what is a farewell dinner for her without some nice baked goodies lined up at the end? From sticky rice w/ mango, to coconut mochi, banana cream pie, korean huttuk and homemade cookies I’m sure it was a spread worthy of the likes of our baker Suzanne:

Baked goodies galore!

Baked goodies galore!

Even though we’re sending her to SD we’re not going to let her forget about us so easily so we made sure to give her a nice reminder of where her spiritual origins lie.

Go Bears!!

Go Bears!!

We will miss you greatly Suzanne! Study hard and hang in there! Always remember that every moment and every place can be a “holy moment” because God is the master of all and is everywhere and He is very much mindful of you! We will be praying for you!!

We'll miss you! And we'll be praying for you!

We'll miss you! And we'll be praying for you!

a2f_kim Home worship experience

Every Sunday we’ve been meeting at Helen & Ben’s place (aka: Shaner House) for our home worship service. We always start with yummy snacks and some fellowship, then we settle down to watch the Truth Project series, and then we break for lunch.

This past Sunday we had pasta that required a bottle of artichoke hearts. It was a most stubborn lid that would not budge despite the repeated efforts by Sarah Chu, Daniel with a wooden spoon (a technique he said he learned in Honduras), then Ander, then Daniel + Ander, then Helen (who tapped it from the bottom and against the counter) and then finally (in frustration) Daniel & Ander tried one more time and gave it their all and “POP!” it finally gave way! Yay~! Here’s the sequence of events…the facial expressions are just priceless =op

Hurrah for Daniel & Ander!!
