The few…the proud… the 10k runners

This past weekend, a few brothers from a2f ran the Walk Stack 10k in San Francisco. Some of our fellow brothers from our sister group Koinonia Berkeley also ran it as well. The route went along the San Francisco Bay passing Ghirardelli, Fort Mason, and Crissy Field. It was a beautiful and fun run to do. Here’s a picture of us at the end of the race and we hope next year more of you will join us!

Finishing:

1. Brian P – 39 min

2. Jonathan – 46 min

3. Jasper – 49 min

4. Joe – 53 min

5. Wesley – 53 min

6. Ander – 54 min

7. Brian – 1 hr 12 min

Ben and Ryan were there for moral support, thanks guys!

Taco Truck Run!

Today, the brothers of home group ben/helen took a trip to the local taco truck for a quick bite to eat. It was Wesley, Brian, and Jonathan’s first time. Although a little hesitant at first, with such delectable meats such as carne asada, al pastor, carne asada, and buche (my personal favorite), after they took their first bites they were hooked!

Thank you for praying for Ryan!

Hi, just wanted to say thanks since many of you already knew about our son Ryan being in the hospital this past week. Last weekend Ryan developed a fever and so after a few days he wasn’t able to hold any food. Our pediatrician sent him to the ER to get hydrated via IV, but when we got there, the docs were concerned about some of his symptoms and wanted him to be admitted for observation. Well, 4 days later, we are out of the hospital, and cleared of any other complications. His fever has gone away and he’s on the road to recovery.

During this entire time Helen, Ryan, and I received such an outpouring of love in the form of toys, gifts, snacks, dinner, and visitors that we did not experience the full weight of the burden of caring for a sick infant. In fact, many of our days went by so quickly because of the free-flow of people who would come to visit and spend time with us. One sister even came and relieved us for a few hours so I could go to work and Helen could go to a cafe and not go stir-crazy. Not to mention all the concern poured out through emails and phone calls and “How’s Ryan today? Fever gone down?” text messages. When we were leaving we had so much food left over that even after we gave some snacks to the nurses that tirelessly served us we still got comments like, “I saw your U-Haul parked outside!” from passing strangers. All in all, thank you for showing your concern and I do believe that this experience has been another one that strengthened our faith in God and in his community!
